Libraries are constantly under attack from people who fear knowledge, politicians who think guns are more important than books, and people who want to ensure that multi-millionaires pocket even more money. As an author, father, and a reader, I beg you: please support your local libraries in any way you can, and if you enjoy reading, take a moment to thank a librarian.

This is something I was trying to put my finger on yesterday, that people who want to shut down libraries are people who have always been annoyed or intimidated by libraries in some way. Because libraries make them feel stupid, or are hurting their bottom line. With the advent of easily-accessible online information, library haters now (finally!) believe they have a legitimate reason to shut libraries down. These people, in fact, have never known what a library really is. Well said, Wil Wheaton.
